ARCH1142 - COMMUNICATION

WORKSHOP 1: MODEL IT!!

WEEK 1 - BARCELONA PAVILION & TASK 1

WEEK 2 - SITE MODEL - FISHER HOUSE & TASK 2

WEEK 3 - FISHER HOUSE & TASK 3

WEEK 4 - POSTER

Self Reflection Statement:
During this workshop, having no experience in making models, this had became a massive challenge to me. During the 4 weeks where we made models, viewing different aspects of different forms of model making from internal spacing to contours, it provided me with an interesting perspective on how architects use models to represent their ideas to which the final physical product of a design will ultimately be reflected from the model that is presented during its initial stages of development. The scale and geometry of the houses that were used for this workshop required a level of skill to demonstrate the ideas between each house, where the making of the house should reflect a story that represents the intentions of the design.

WORKSHOP 2: DRAW IT!!

POSTER

Self Reflection Statement:
In this workshop the ideas of drawings to communicate the internal and external spaces of design forms were learnt. Through line drawings using different line weights the idea of technical drawings presented the 3D design into a 2D form. In saying this it allows viewers to represent and see how the building is formed through spaces in a simple 2D "diagram/drawing." After the line drawings a new aspect was introduced where the idea of a rendered technique can represent a different perspective to a structure. It can present a different characteristic/ siting of the building. I have learnt that the technique and methods of how a house is rendered can reflect on how a viewer may site the building in its context.

WORKSHOP 3: MONTAGE IT!!

CONCEPT MODEL

PHOTOMONTAGE
Concept idea - Deconstruction to Reconstruction ( In junction with the flipbook)

FLIPBOOK

POSTER

Self Reflection Statement:
In this final workshop, it presented a more abstract approach to architectural design. It allowed us to create a conceptual form and change it to represent it into an architectural form. Through photoshop it allowed us to represent different ideas of how an architectural form is presented in all its stages, may it be from reconstruction to deconstruction. The flip book allowed us to create a journey for ourselves where one can explore this conceptual model and view its spaces within. Its goals of allowing us to view architecture through concept models where achieve and present different aspects on how a student can learn that all forms of architecture comes from the simplest ideas of a concept.
